A 38-year-old man is facing charges after allegedly assaulting a Saskatoon police officer Wednesday afternoon.
Police said the incident happened just before 1 p.m., as a member of the police service’s Bike Unit responded to a call in the 100 block of Avenue D North.
The release said that as the officer made their way toward that call, they were approached by “a verbally and physically irate person” in the area of Avenue D and 22nd Street West.
“As the person continued towards the officer in an aggressive manner, a struggle began, causing the police bike to fall to the ground and the officer to suffer a minor injury,” the release said. “This person was not involved in the initial call for service that the officer was responding to.”
Police didn’t provide more details about the officer’s injuries or whether the accused was hurt during the struggle.
