Police in North Battleford are appealing to the public as they work to solve a homicide case.
According to the RCMP, 37-year-old James Barbaric was assaulted Tuesday night on 102nd Street in North Battleford. He was treated by paramedics on the scene for minor injuries.
Then, the following day, the RCMP got a call about a dead man at a vacant house located at 1402 102nd St., and officers identified the body as that of Barbaric. His family has been notified of the death, police added.
“Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes is asking residents in the community, or anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area of 1402 102nd Street in North Battleford between 10 p.m., on August 15, 2023 and 1 p.m., on August 16, 2023, to contact Battlefords RCMP at 306-446-1720 or your local police service,” the Mounties said in a statement.
“Investigators are also looking for any surveillance footage residents in the community may have in this time frame and location.”
Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers, the RCMP noted.
