A number of communities in northwestern Saskatchewan were temporarily without Internet, wireless phone and landline services Tuesday.
All services were restored at 2:40 p.m.
SaskTel estimated around 1,000 customers were affected by the outage.
“The cause of the outage is believed to be a damaged fibre cable near the community of Meadow Lake,” said Greg Jacobs, external communications manager at SaskTel. “However, at this time we are not aware of how the fibre cable was damaged.”
The Saskatchewan RCMP released a statement about the ongoing outage, saying it affected the communities of Green Lake, Beauval, Île-à-la-Crosse, Buffalo Narrows, La Loche, Turnor Lake, Waterhen Lake, Dillon, Pinehouse, Fond du Lac, and Patuanak.
The RCMP encouraged those living in the affected areas to visit their local RCMP detachments in person if they were in need of police services during the outage.
