Heat warnings in the city have many Saskatoon locals searching for a cool treat.
Jordan Ethridge owns Fable Ice Cream, near Victoria Park. He said on extremely hot days, his shop is guaranteed to be busy, especially in the evenings. When the heat is on, he said his staff will serve up to 500 scoops of ice cream in a day.
Fable Ice Cream was opened by Ethridge and his wife, and has been operating for six years.
“We just love ice cream, and we want to share it with people,” Ethridge said.
The shop partners with local farmers for ingredients and creates every recipe from scratch. Fable offers around 20 flavours of ice cream, and up to six vegan sorbet options as well.
Ethridge said some of this year’s popular picks include salted caramel, milk chocolate and Madagascar vanilla. He said customers love his rhubarb crisp flavour so much that people have been asking for it since February.
Shop customer Vera Olfert was enjoying the sour cherry cheesecake on Tuesday.
“It’s delicious. It’s very nice, rich ice cream,” she said,
Ethridge said he’s always coming up with new creations for his customers to try.
“Today I just made a piña colada sorbet, (with) pineapple, coconut and a little bit of rum in there,” he said.
