Some regions in western Saskatchewan could see some nasty weather Monday.
Just after 3:15 p.m., Environment Canada issued severe thunderstorm watches for areas around Leader, Gull Lake, Shaunavon, Maple Creek, Val Marie, Kindersley and Rosetown.
The advisory said conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that could produce high winds, large hail and heavy rain.
“These thunderstorms are expected to develop late this afternoon into this evening as a trough of low pressure approaches from Alberta,” the advisory said. “The threat of severe weather will abate late this evening.”
Special air quality statements also remained in place for areas of northern Saskatchewan, including La Ronge, La Loche and Collins Bay.
