The next Joey Chestnut wasn’t found at YXE Eats’ hot wing eating competition there was a great performance put on during Saturday afternoon’s event.
Around 20 contestants were given two minutes to eat a basket full of hot wings.
The wings were slathered with a hot sauce that ranked 1.5 million units on the Scoville scale.
The consensus among participants was the wings were the hottest thing they’ve eaten.
“My lips are going to be numb for three days,” said one contestant, Bart Rhodes.
“Those wings were brutal, they were the hottest thing I’ve ever eaten,” agreed Kevin Ross.
According to another competitor, Riley Booth, breathing was one the hardest parts of the competition.
“I started hiccuping and once you start doing that, it’s over,” Ross shared.
Rhodes decided to forego that action altogether.
“I think I forgot to breathe and that’s how I finished my wings,” he said.
Only about a quarter of the contestants actually finished their entire basket of wings to successfully complete the competition.
