Canada Day brought some wild weather this year.
Extreme wind and rain storms raged through the province on Saturday night.
Nipawin, Waskesiu, Prince Albert and Hafford were some of the hardest hit on July 1.
Donna Briscoe, a park booth clerk at Nipawin Regional Park, said the park and surrounding areas suffered some damage from the storms.
“We had a lot of trees that were down,” she said.
Although no one was injured, trees fell onto houses in Nipawin and on people’s vehicles at the park.
“We had eight people check out early yesterday. They just didn’t feel safe,” Briscoe said. “Too many trees lying around.”
On Saturday night, several parts of the province were without power, including Nipawin.
The town lost power for at least 13 hours following the storm. Briscoe said the power initially went out at around 8:30 p.m., Saturday, and wasn’t back on until around 1 p.m., Sunday afternoon.
Areas like Christopher Lake, Martensville, Moose Jaw, Meath Park and Cumberland House are also among those that went without power for periods of time over the weekend.
