A Toronto man is in hot water in Saskatoon.
According to police, officers suspected the 24-year-old Ontario man of trafficking drugs, and tried to stop his vehicle Wednesday on Willis Crescent.
Police said the driver refused to stop and fled “in a dangerous manner, striking a parked vehicle in the area of Cope Crescent before fleeing again on foot.”
Officers quickly caught up with the man on Clarence Avenue South where he was arrested, police said, and officers subsequently executed a search warrant at a home on Willis Crescent where the chase began.
In that raid, police said officers seized a 2012 Ford Focus, 103 grams of crack cocaine, a “buffing agent” used to dilute drugs, a loaded .45-calibre handgun, $17,835 in cash, and drug paraphernalia.
Police said the Toronto man is now facing numerous charges related to drug trafficking, weapons, hit-and-run, possession of the proceeds of crime, and violating court-ordered conditions.
“Investigators believe it is possible the suspect may have struck other parked vehicles in his attempt to flee from police,” police noted in a statement.
“Anyone whose vehicle was parked along Willis Crescent, Cornish Road, or Cope Crescent is encouraged to inspect it for signs of related damage and report any to the Saskatoon Police Service by calling 306-975-8300 and referencing 23-66445.”
