The Saskatchewan Roughriders’ family expanded by one Thursday.
Tripp Joseph Harris — the third son for Roughriders quarterback Trevor Harris and his wife Kalie — was born in Marion, Ohio.
The elder Harris made the announcement on his Instagram post, which featured a number of photos of the new baby and his family.
“Tripp Joseph Harris made his debut yesterday,” the Roughriders’ pivot wrote in the post. “@kalieharris7 was an absolute rockstar through labor and delivery! Trenton, Trace and Tripp and I are so blessed to have you as mama/wifey.
“Amazing moment seeing the boys meet their new baby brother!”
The elder Harris had been at the Roughriders’ training camp in Saskatoon, but was excused so he could fly home for his son’s arrival. Trevor won’t be in Regina on Saturday when Saskatchewan plays host to the B.C. Lions in its first game of the 2023 CFL pre-season.
“You want to make sure that you’re always there in those moments for your family and such a significant moment like a wedding or a birth of a child, there’s only one time you get to do that,” Harris told reporters in Saskatoon before heading home.
“It’s one of those things that’s super, super important to me, but at the same time, part of me will be here with the boys.”
Harris, who turns 37 next Wednesday, signed with the Roughriders as a free agent in the off-season. He’s slated to be the CFL team’s starting quarterback this season.
It’s the second straight year that the Roughriders’ starting QB has welcomed a new child. Cody Fajardo’s son Luca was born Sept. 14.
