The month of May is KidSport Month across the province.
Tammy Hoffart, the provincial co-ordinator for KidSport Saskatchewan, said during the month fundraisers are hosted by the charity to help families facing financial obstacles with sports registration fees.
Hoffart said the charity raised more than $1 million last year, which funded 4,600 registration fees for children.
To raise money this year, the charity is hosting the KidSport Corporate Challenge at the University of Saskatchewan for an “Amazing Race” challenge Saturday. Hoffart said the same challenge takes place in Regina.
“It’s a bit of a competition between both our cities,” she said.
Hoffart added there’s an annual charity golf tournament in Meadow Lake at the end of the month to raise even more funds, and some of the Saskatchewan Roughriders will be teeing off to help out.
Hoffart said people can get involved by going to the KidSport website, signing up to be a volunteer, or simply donating.
“We just want everyone to know about KidSport in case they ever do have a financial hardship,” she said.
