Visitors can get an up-close look at the world’s largest Tyrannosaurus rex in just a few days’ time.
Eastend’s T. rex Discovery Centre is set to open May 20, giving visitors a chance to meet Scotty, the world’s largest T. rex. The centre also includes plenty of dinosaur fossils, along with marine reptiles, prehistoric mammals and more.
Laura Ross, Saskatchewan’s minister for parks, culture and sport, said the centre is internationally renowned for paleontological research and discovery.
“There are always new activities exhibits at the Centre, such as the Tylosaurus exhibit, and fan favourites like Scotty on display,” Ross said in a statement. “The Discovery Centre is the perfect summer destination for all ages to enjoy.”
Visitors can get a sense of the science happening at the centre through the Paleo Lab Experience.
“Depending on what is happening in the lab, they may assist in uncovering the secrets of a field jacket, look for microfossils, experiment on our new stratigraphy table, or make a stop motion animation,” the ministry said.
“In addition, there are fun and engaging activities for the entire family. Explore the beautiful landscape of the Frenchman River Valley on the hiking trails situated around the Discovery Centre or uncover a new fossil in the Fossil Dig Sand Pit.”
The centre, located at 1 T-rex Drive in Eastend, is open from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. from May 20 until Labour Day. Admission is by donation.
