Premier Scott Moe is now part of an even smaller group on Twitter: Those who still have their blue check mark.
This week, the now Elon Musk-headed Twitter removed the legacy check marks that had denoted the account had been verified in some way by the company.
Now it means the account holder is paying for Twitter Blue, which includes perks like an edit button, longer tweets and prioritized rankings in conversations and searches.
Moe kept his check mark and is paying for the service personally. The Twitter website lists the cost as between $10 and $15 a month or between $105 and $155 a year.
Moe’s office said he’s paying the fee because it’s his official account and the check mark makes sure the public knows when it’s his account and not that of an imposter.
