Two Saskatchewan-based players have cracked the final CFL Scouting Bureau rankings ahead of the 2023 CFL draft.
University of Regina Rams defensive end Anthony Bennett was No. 16 in the rankings issued Friday, down from 13th in the winter rankings that came out in December.
University of Saskatchewan offensive lineman Dayton Black was No. 20 in the spring rankings after not appearing in the previous top 20.
Bennett, a 6-foot-3, 230-pound product of Weston, Fla., is eligible for the CFL draft because his mother is from Regina.
The Rams defensive end set a U of R single-season record with eight sacks in the 2022 Canada West regular season and also tied a school record with 10.5 tackles for losses.
Bennett was named a 2022 Canada West all-star and a first-team U Sports all-Canadian.
Black, a 6-foot-6, 295-pounder out of Brandon, was named a Canada West all-star last season — his third campaign with the Huskies.
Syracuse University offensive lineman Matthew Bergeron of Victoriaville, Que., jumped from fifth in the winter rankings to No. 1 in the final rankings.
University of Illinois running back Chase Brown of London, Ont., fell from first in the winter to second in the final rankings while his twin brother — Illinois defensive back Sydney Brown — dropped from second to third.
The CFL draft is set for May 2.
