A man and a woman were arrested Friday night after a pellet pistol was allegedly pointed at an off-duty cop in Saskatoon.
According to police, the off-duty officer was driving in the area of Melrose Avenue and Taylor Street East on Friday evening when a black Dodge Charger pulled up beside the officer. The driver of the Dodge allegedly pointed a pellet pistol at the officer through the window before taking off.
An officer with the Traffic Unit later spotted the Dodge — which police said was speeding at the time — and officers performed a traffic stop, arresting the male driver and female passenger. A pellet gun was found inside the car.
A six-year-old boy was also inside the Charger during the traffic stop, police said, and he was taken into the care of family members.
Police said the 33-year-old driver is now facing four gun charges, and was also found to be in violation of firearms probation orders issued in Saskatchewan and Alberta.
The 36-year-old passenger is also facing three gun-related charges, and was later released on an undertaking.
