A Saskatoon police officer suffered a minor injury Friday morning while responding to a break-in in progress.
According to police, officers responded to a home near the intersection of Carrothers Court and Junor Avenue at 9:30 a.m. Police said a man armed with a wrench entered a woman’s home and threatened her before taking off.
Officers searched the area and quickly found a 43-year-old man matching the description walking nearby.
“The suspect failed to comply with police instruction and then charged at one of the officers, at which point a CEW was deployed,” police said in a statement.
A CEW, commonly referred to as a Taser, is an energy weapon designed to incapacitate a person by delivering a painful electric shock.
The man continued to fight after the CEW was deployed, police said, but he was quickly arrested.
“During the altercation, one of the officers involved received a minor injury,” police added
The statement from police did not specify the type of injury or how it was sustained.
The 43-year-old is now facing charges of break-and-enter, uttering threats and assaulting a police officer.
The wrench was also discovered to have been stolen from a nearby home, police added.
