Two small kittens can be seen soaking up the sun in the front window of Cherry Insurance, which recently welcomed the furry new interns through the SPCA Office Foster Program.
Robyn Cherry, the chief operating officer of the Saskatoon company, has a soft spot for animals in shelters, and she said making the decision to bring some new friends to the office was easy.
The Office Foster Program was created by the SPCA to encourage offices to foster a cat full time until adoption.
“We had a quick poll of everybody here, and while there were some people with allergies, everybody was kind of excited to have this take place,” Cherry said.
The process itself was easy, Cherry said. After sending an application and receiving descriptions of the cats in need, the company decided to take in two seven-month-old tabby cats, Lucky and Charm.
Cherry said the cats are brothers that were found on the street in late February.
“They’re such happy little boys. (They) just make everybody feel good,” Cherry said.

The duo is already settling in after a week, she said, noting the cats already have napping spots, and can be seen hopping between office cubicles.
“It’s been amazing. They wander around, they talk to people, they cuddle, they play — they’re just a joy to have in the office,” she said, adding staff members are on board with feeding and playing with the animals.
Val Drozdovska, an employee with Cherry Insurance, said she was emotional when she heard about the possibility of foster kittens stepping foot into the office.
She said the cats surprisingly are not distracting and are well-behaved.
“They’re so cute,” Drozdovska exclaimed.
On weekends, Cherry said staff members volunteer to come visit the kittens and even make it a family outing by bringing their children.
The SPCA will provide all the necessities for those who join the office foster program such as food, cat beds, litter boxes and toys. But Cherry said the company decided to help out the non-profit by providing supplies itself.
Lucky and Charm might stick around after the foster program. Cherry said she’s been encouraging staff members to take one in, and Drozdovska said she’s thinking about it herself.
Cherry is hoping other offices will partake in the program as well to experience the benefits.
“The team that it creates around these little guys is just phenomenal,” she said.
