After giving up a late lead on Friday night, the Saskatoon Blades earned redemption by defeating the Prince Albert Raiders 3-1 Saturday night.
In the process, Saskatoon earned a spot in the 2023 WHL playoffs.
For the second night in a row, the Blades built a three-goal lead, this time holding on to it until the final buzzer.
Jayden Wiens opened the scoring for Saskatoon just past the halfway mark of the first period.
That’s when the floodgates opened for the Blades’ offence.
Brandon Lisowsky and Jake Chiasson also found the back of the net to give Saskatoon a 3-0 lead after the first period.
The Raiders tried to make another comeback like they did on Friday after Ryder Ritchie scored early in the third to cut the Blades’ lead to two.
That wasn’t enough, as Ethan Chadwick turned away 24 shots for his 18th win of the season.
Lisowsky finished his night with a goal and an assist to earn him the first star of the night. Ritchie was named the second star and Chadwick was third.
Saskatoon will return to the playoffs hoping for a deep run after an early first-round exit last season.
