The Saskatoon Blades used a big third period Sunday to post their second win in as many days.
Trailing 2-1 entering the final frame of their game against the Brandon Wheat Kings, the Blades scored three goals in the third en route to a 4-2 WHL victory at SaskTel Centre.
Saskatoon defeated the Winnipeg Ice 3-2 on Saturday.
Former Wheat King Jake Chiasson sparked the Blades’ rally, setting up Jordan Keller’s tying goal at 7:28 of the third, scoring the eventual game-winner at 11:58, and then assisting on Keller’s second goal of the game at 13:41.
Saskatoon outshot Brandon 11-6 in the third period and 31-23 overall.
Charlie Wright also scored for Saskatoon (32-12-3-1), which moved one point ahead of the Moose Jaw Warriors (32-16-0-3) for third place in the Eastern Conference. Moose Jaw beat the Calgary Hitmen 2-1 earlier Sunday.
Brett Hyland and Nolan Ritchie scored for the Wheat Kings (19-22-7-0).
Ethan Chadwick made 21 saves for the Blades. Brandon goalie Nicholas Jones stopped 27 shots.
The Blades return to action Tuesday against the Edmonton Oil Kings. Game time at SaskTel Centre is 7 p.m.
