Nancy Martin knows her team will compete for a provincial curling title on Sunday.
Who they will face will be decided that morning.
Martin and her rink — lead Krysten Karwacki, second Jennifer Armstrong and third Lindsay Bertsch — defeated Robyn Silvernagle’s team 9-8 on Saturday in the playoffs to punch their ticket to the finals at the 2023 Viterra Scotties Provincial Tournament at Affinity Place in Estevan.
Martin is a perfect 4-0 at the tournament thus far.
Silvernagle’s rink will now take on Sherry Anderson’s team in the semi-finals to earn one more shot at beating Martin. Martin previously beat Silvernagle 9-2 earlier in the tournament and Anderson 7-6 in the A-event final.
Silvernagle and Anderson are familiar foes at the provincials, meeting in the finals three straight years (2018-20). This year also adds a family component to the rivalry with Anita Silvernagle, Robyn’s mother, playing lead on Team Anderson.
That game is set for 10 a.m. Sunday.
The winner of the tournament will represent Saskatchewan at Canada’s national women’s championship — the Scotties Tournament of Hearts — in Kamloops, B.C., between Feb. 17 – 26.
