Sidorov’s goal on an end-to-end rush at 2:30 of the five-minute overtime period lifted the Blades to a 3-2 WHL victory over the host Hitmen, giving Saskatoon a split on its two-game trip to Alberta. The Red Deer Rebels beat the Blades 5-1 on Friday.
In Saturday’s game, Calgary’s Carter Yaremchuk opened the scoring at 17:26 of the first period. Saskatoon’s Brandon Lisowski tied the game 14 seconds into the second period and Jake Chiasson gave the Blades a 2-1 lead at 14:47 of the second.
It was Chiasson’s first goal with Saskatoon since he was acquired from the Brandon Wheat Kings on Jan. 10.
But Yaremchuk knotted the score at 18:52 of the third, sending the contest to the extra period. Sidorov ended matters halfway into the OT frame with his 27th goal of the season.
Austin Elliott stopped 24 shots for Saskatoon (29-11-3-1). Ethan Buenaventura made 42 saves for the Hitmen (23-17-4-1).
The Blades are to return to action Tuesday in Brandon.
