A former Wolverine will be sticking around Saskatchewan.
The CFL’s Saskatchewan Roughriders announced Thursday they have signed defensive back Jeremy Clark to a one-year contract extension. Clark could have become a free agent Feb. 14.
Clark played in 17 games for the Green and White in 2022, recording 30 tackles, one forced fumble, three pass knockdowns and one tackle for loss.
The former University of Michigan Wolverines star joined the Riders in 2021 and saw action in five games, recording 10 tackles, one interception and a forced fumble.
The 28-year-old Kentucky product spent five seasons at Michigan, with his final two seasons being under current head coach Jim Harbaugh. Clark had three interceptions in 36 games in college.
Clark was taken in the sixth round (196th overall) of the 2017 NFL draft by the New York Jets, but was placed on the injured list after suffering an ACL injury in college. He never played in a regular-season game in the NFL.
In 2020, Clark was a member of the XFL’s Seattle Dragons, registering an interception and 10 tackles in five games before the league ceased operations.
The Roughriders still have 26 players who could hit the free-agent market unless they re-sign before the deadline.
