Spring Hospital Home Lottery showhome unveiled in Saskatoon

The latest edition of the Hospital Home Lottery kicked off this weekend in Saskatoon

The grand prize for the spring, 2023 lottery is a $2.1-million farmhouse-inspired showhome located on Edgemont Crescent, and it comes with $50,000 in cash. All proceeds from the lottery will support the hospital foundations at St. Paul’s Hospital, Saskatoon City Hospital, and Royal University Hospital.

Lecina Hicke, CEO of the St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation, said the Hospital Home Lottery partnered with Fraser Homes this year to construct the 5,000-square-foot home, which boasts five bedrooms, five bathrooms, a spacious master suite with a walk-in closet, a kitchen with custom cabinets, and a natural gas fireplace in the great room.

The house also includes a gym, wet bar, covered outdoor deck and a sun room where “you can just see yourself reading a book in winter or summer,” Hicke said.

Although only one one lucky winner will claim the brand-new home, there are many other prizes offered as well.

Tickets bought before Jan. 20, will be entered to win the Natural Wonders VIP Prize, which features a “bucket list” tour of North America’s most impressive national parks, including Banff, Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon and Cape Breton Highlands, or $25,000 in cash.

Hicke said she’s thankful for the community’s support over the years.

“Buying a ticket over the past 35 years has meant that our hospitals ensure positive patient outcomes for everyone who walks through our doors,” Hicke said.

The funds raised this spring will be put towards diagnostic imaging equipment for the St. Paul’s Hospital, improvements in medical imaging and pathology at City Hospital, and new technology in operating rooms to aid surgical teams at Royal University Hospital.

“No matter what, when you buy a ticket, we all win,” Hicke said.

According to the Saskatoon Hospital Home Lottery website, last year’s total sales exceeded $1,360,000.
