The RCMP recovered a number of stolen guns and seized illegal drugs this week while investigating the theft of a gun safe.
According to the RCMP, a gun safe containing six firearms was stolen from a residence at Denare Beach during a break-and-enter last Friday. The following day, police got reports of a person with a firearm in the area, but the responding officers weren’t able to find the suspect.
After an investigation into both incidents, RCMP officers searched a home in the area where they seized five rifles, two handguns and magazines with ammunition, along with illegal cannabis and psilocybin, commonly referred to as “magic mushrooms.”
Some of the recovered guns were taken from the missing safe, the RCMP said, while others were stolen during separate break-ins.
A 22-year-old man and a boy were arrested at the scene, and a further investigation led to the arrest of a 41-year-old man.
Officers with the Creighton RCMP detachment are still tracing the origin of some of the seized firearms and the circumstances of their theft, and asked anyone with information to contact the RCMP or make an anonymous report through Crime Stoppers.
