A couple of Canadian players have signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
The CFL team announced Tuesday it had signed 2022 second-round selection Zack Fry as well as University of Saskatchewan Huskies kicker David Solie.
Fry, an offensive lineman from Western University, was a part of a Mustangs offence that led Ontario University Athletics in points per game (45.0), total offence (4,106 yards), rushing yards (2,336), rushing yards per game (292.0) and yards per rush (8.2) in 2022.
The London, Ont., product was named an OUA all-star and second-team All-Canadian in 2022. He was a part of the 2021 Vanier Cup-winning team.
Saskatchewan selected Fry with the 16th overall pick in the 2022 draft.
In 32 games as a Huskie, Solie made 61 field goals and helped the team reach the Vanier Cup in 2021 and 2022.
The Saskatoon product also had 200 career punts for 7,729 yards — a 38.6-yard average. He was named a Canada West all-star in 2022 and a first-team all-Canadian in 2021.
Solie was a CJFL national champion with the Saskatoon Hilltops in 2018 and named Team Canada MVP and Senior Bowl MVP in 2017.
