The Buffalo Narrows RCMP warned people to avoid travelling to Turnor Lake on Monday while it searched for a 23-year-old man wanted in connection with a stabbing in the community early Monday.
In a media release, police asked for the public’s help in locating Kobin Morin, who reportedly stole a gun from the house where the stabbing occurred and fled on foot.
Morin is described as being approximately 6-foot-1 and weighing 200 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a black long-sleeve shirt and dark pants.
Morin is considered to be armed and dangerous, so people who see him were urged not to approach him and to call 911.
“Residents in the community have been advised by the Buffalo Narrows RCMP to take precautionary measures and to report any suspicious activity to police,” the release said. “Members of the public are asked to avoid making unnecessary travel into the community of Turnor Lake.”
Turnor Lake is about 45 kilometres east of La Loche.
The RCMP didn’t have an update on the status of the man who was stabbed.
Anyone with information about Morin’s whereabouts is asked to call 911, their local police service, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
