The Saskatchewan Roughriders provided an update on the health of safety Mike Edem on Monday.
In the fourth quarter of Saturday’s 32-21 loss to the Calgary Stampeders at Mosaic Stadium, the 33-year-old Edem was involved in a helmet-to-helmet collision with Stamps running back Dedrick Mills.
Edem stayed down on the field after the hit and was tended to by medical personnel as players from both teams gathered nearby. Edem was strapped to a back board and taken off the field on a cart.
On Monday, the Roughriders said Edem had been taken from the field to a hospital for diagnostic testing, all of which “came back clear.” The CFL team said Edem was released from hospital Saturday night.
It’s unknown if Edem will be available to the Roughriders when they visit Calgary on Saturday to close out their 2022 season. The loss to the Stampeders on Saturday eliminated Saskatchewan from post-season contention.
