Almost a year after two people allegedly exchanged gunfire in front of a Saskatoon school, the second suspect has been arrested.
The file dates back to Oct. 15, when police responded to a report of a shooting on Northumberland Avenue.
“It has been reported that two men had fired firearms at each other,” Saskatoon police said in a statement. “Upon arrival at the scene officers located a male, believed to be one of the suspects, and took him into custody. The second male was identified and a warrant was issued.”
Nobody was hurt during the shooting, police said. The nearby school was placed on lockdown as a precaution, but officers said there wasn’t any known connection to the school.
The second suspect became the subject of a Canada-wide warrant, police said, and he was arrested Wednesday at a home on Evergreen Boulevard in Saskatoon.
He’s now facing charges including assault with a weapon, using a firearm during an indictable offence, careless use of a firearm, and pointing a firearm.
