Dry conditions have prompted a total fire ban for the Rural Municipality of Corman Park.
According to a municipal order issued Thursday by RM administration, the fire ban goes into immediate effect and prohibits any open flame fires within the RM until it has been lifted.
“This requires all outdoor fires presently burning to be extinguished and the lighting of any outdoor fires is prohibited.” Ken Kolb, the RM’s chief administrative officer, wrote in the order.
“This ban includes fire pits, burning barrels, controlled burns, and fireworks, with the only exception being internal household fireplaces and gas-fuelled equipment such as a propane barbecue or propane fire pit.”
According a social media post by Warman Fire Rescue, backyard fire pits within the City of Warman are still allowed as long as they comply with the local bylaws.
The RM of Corman Park surrounds Saskatoon, and includes many of the outlying communities.
