As heat warnings continue Thursday across Saskatchewan, Regina and Saskatoon are offering help for people to deal with the temperature.
Environment Canada said daytime highs would hit the low to mid-30s, although a cold front moving through later Thursday was expected to result in the heat warnings ending.
In the meantime, Regina is urging people to call 911 for the Regina Police Service if someone is unsafe, hurt or in danger.
Mobile Crisis Services can provide emergency shelter to people suffering from the heat. That assistance can be obtained by calling 306-757-0127 or online.
There also are a number of cool down locations around the city; a list of those can be found here. The city’s Survival Guide and Map also contains information where people can get assistance.
The city also said people who are having issues with the heat can flag down a Regina Transit bus. As well, cold water is available in front of each of the city’s seven fire stations.
Residents can go to a spray pad or outdoor pool to cool off. The city’s outdoor pools are open until Monday.
In Saskatoon, the city has extended the hours at spray pads to 10 p.m., until Monday. The spray pads open daily at 10 a.m.
The city also has more than 70 locations to cool down. Those places can be found on the city’s Heat Response Map.
