The Nutrien Fireworks Festival is to take over Saskatoon’s downtown this weekend, and a number of detours, lane restrictions and road closures are to be in place to accommodate the festivities.
The festival is to run Friday and Saturday, but if inclement weather affects the evening displays, the festival is to be moved to Sunday and Monday.
On Friday and Saturday, the Broadway Bridge will be closed between 12th Street and 20th Street, 19th Street will also be closed between Third Avenue and Fourth Avenue, and Saskatchewan Crescent will be closed between 14th Street and Broadway Avenue. Those restrictions are to go into effect early each morning and last until midnight each night.
From Thursday at 5 p.m. until Sunday at noon, Spadina Crescent will be closed between Third Avenue and 20th Street, as well as the Saskatoon Boat Launch and the parking lot at Rotary Park.
Between 9 a.m. Friday and noon Sunday, Spadina will be closed between Second Avenue and Third Avenue, and the Traffic Bridge will be closed between 11th and 19th streets.
On Friday between 5 p.m. and midnight, Spadina will be closed between Second Avenue and 20th Street, Eastlake Avenue will be closed between 12th Street and Saskatchewan Crescent, and Saskatchewan Crescent will be closed between 14th Street and McPherson Avenue.
Those same restrictions are to go into effect Saturday between 3 p.m. and midnight.
The full details of the traffic restrictions can be found online.
The City of Saskatoon reminded drivers to watch for pedestrians, and thanked residents for their patience during the closures.
