The body of a 20-year-old woman from the Dillon area was found inside a truck that crashed into the Beaver River on Wednesday.
According to the RCMP, officers from the Meadow Lake detachment were called to the Beaver River bridge crossing on Highway 903 south of Pagan Lake after a truck rolled over on the bridge and ended up in the water.
The RCMP said the truck was fully submerged in the river, which is about nine to 10 feet deep with a rapid current.
A man who was standing on top of the vehicle was pulled to shore with a rope by the RCMP, but a woman who also was in the truck wasn’t accounted for.
In an update issued Monday, the Mounties said heavy equipment was used to remove the truck from the water and the woman’s body was found inside.
The RCMP is still investigating.
