Summer may be nearing its end, but the heat is sticking around.
Environment Canada put a heat warning into effect for some communities in northern Saskatchewan Thursday.
The warning covers the areas around La Loche, Clearwater River Provincial Park, and Cluff Lake. The weather service said temperatures in the region are expected to reach 29 C over the next two days, before cooling off over the weekend.
When temperatures start to rise, it’s important to watch for the effects of heat-related illnesses and remember to never to leave pets in a parked vehicle, Environment Canada said.
Hot weather was also expected in Saskatchewan’s largest cities Thursday, with Regina expected to hit 25 C and Saskatoon’s forecast showing a high of 29 C.
The latest information on the weather alerts can be found on Environment Canada’s website.
