A 66-year-old woman who was reported missing near the Granite Lake Campground in northern Saskatchewan was found alive by searchers after being missing for nearly two full days.
According to the RCMP, the area where the woman was missing is a “remote, forested area, off of Highway 106, between the turnoff to Pelican Narrows and Creighton.”
The woman was reported missing Sunday. Searchers included RCMP officers, search and rescue teams, police dogs, an RCMP helicopter from Alberta, conservation officers, volunteers, civilian aircraft, firefighters and more, the Mounties said.
On Tuesday, at about 4:30 p.m., searchers found the woman alive.
“She had been missing for approximately 45 hours at that point and searchers were overjoyed when she was found,” Sgt. Kelly Dinsdale of the Creighton RCMP said in a statement.
The RCMP thanked everyone involved in the search for their help.
While the RCMP announced the woman was found at the time, the police said they are releasing more information now in response to multiple requests.
