The Saskatchewan RCMP is renewing its call for help as it searches for a missing woman north of Smeaton.
Lois Chartrand, 74, was last seen on Thursday during a mushroom-picking expedition. She became separated from the other person she was with, and her companion became concerned and called police.
The RCMP said Chartrand is wearing blue jeans and a blue jacket. She stands five feet tall and weighs 90 pounds.
The RCMP’s Smeaton Detachment, Police Dog Services and Search and Rescue, an Alberta RCMP helicopter, Saskatoon Police Service Air Services, the Civilian Air Search and Rescue Association, the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency, Search and Rescue Saskatchewan Association of Volunteers and community volunteers are participating in the search.
If members of the public who know the area want to help, they’re invited to check in with the search manager. The search base is three kilometres east off Highway 106, approximately 33 kilometres north of Smeaton.
All searchers must sign in to ensure a methodological search and to ensure the searchers’ safety. Volunteers are being told to wear bright clothing and have proper footwear, food, drink and emergency supplies.
