Plumes of black smoke seen in Saskatoon’s north industrial area

Fire trucks, tankers, ambulances, Saskatoon police and CN Rail Police were called to Saskatoon’s north industrial area Friday afternoon.

Plumes of black smoke rising from 71st Street and Wanuskewin Road could bee seen for several kilometres.

Traffic trying to travel through the area was being turned away by police.

Saskatoon police officers told 650 CKOM it appeared as though a rail car could be on fire.

There wasn’t any word on any possible injuries, damage to trains or tracks, or how the fire may have started.
