Two people were arrested in Saskatoon this week in connection with an incident in La Ronge that prompted an emergency alert, and two more suspects are still wanted.
On Sunday, the RCMP said a person fired shots at police, hitting a vehicle in the windshield and radiator. Since then, more than 17 people have been arrested in connection with the incident, though most have been released without charges.
On Wednesday, police arrested Terrance Daigneault at a business on Northridge Drive in Saskatoon. He’s facing a number of charges, including two counts of attempted murder with a firearm, discharging a firearm with intent, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
At the same time, police arrested Nikeyta Bradfield, who’s charged with two counts of aiding Daigneault’s escape from police.
Police also executed a search warrant in La Ronge on Thursday, but no arrests resulted from their search.
The Mounties said they’re still searching for two suspects, Celine Charles and Allan Sanderson, in connection with the incident.
Charles and Sanderson are considered dangerous to the public and should not be approached, police said. Anyone with information was urged to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
Police thanked the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations and the Lac La Ronge Indian Band for their support on the case, and noted there will be an increased police presence this weekend in La Ronge as the investigation continues.
