8:30 – Saskatoon city council still has a number of concerns around decriminalizing simple possession of small amounts of illicit drugs. They’ve decided to wait and see what happens with the province of B.C.’s decriminalization process. Rand Teed is an addictions counsellor, educator, and author and he joins Gormley to weigh in on drug decriminalization and why he thinks it will not solve the overdose crisis. In the summer of 2001, Portugal became the first country in the world to decriminalize the personal use and possession of all illicit drugs. Teed tells us more about Portugal’s process and if it worked.
