A powerful storm ripped through the province on Sunday.
As of Sunday afternoon, there are tornado watches in place for the Carlyle, Estevan, Yorkton, Kamsack and Moosomin areas.
“Doppler radar indicates a potential tornado near Kipling,” a release from Environment Canada said.
“This is a dangerous and potentially life-threatening situation. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. If you hear a roaring sound or see a funnel cloud, swirling debris near the ground, flying debris, or any threatening weather approaching, take shelter immediately.”

Environment Canada meteorologist Brad Vrolijk says the potential is there for some really severe weather.
“This storm definitely poses a significant hazard for torrential downpours, very large hail and the potential for damaging winds,” Vrolijk said.

Looking out southwest, Vrolijk says a severe thunderstorm could pass through from a system currently in Montana.
“Kind of looking at the Leader area down to Shaunavon. Not expecting widespread severe weather or anything, but there will be scattered thunderstorms there,” he said.
This latest system follows intense conditions that were experienced in some areas on Saturday night, where some places in the southwest saw toonie-sized hail.
And closer to the Alberta border, some places reported tennis-sized hail.

“That sort of hail can certainly damage almost anything. We didn’t actually get a lot of damage reports, there wasn’t necessarily a whole lot that it hit,” Vrolijk said.
The weather office is recommending people keep up to date with all watches and warnings that could be put in place throughout Sunday.
