It’s going to be a hot one in Saskatchewan this weekend.
On Friday, Environment Canada extended heat warnings to more regions in the southern parts of the province.
Areas around Estevan, Weyburn, Carlyle, Stoughton, Moosomin and Grenfell were added to the list of communities under the warnings that initially were issued Thursday.
The mercury is expected to reach into the low 30s over the next couple of days, while humidex values are expected to approach the 40 C mark.
Temperatures are expected to return to normal by Sunday morning.
Environment Canada said young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors are most at risk with high temperatures.
The weather service reminded people to drink plenty of water, to stay in a cool place like a tree-shaded area or swimming pool, and to schedule outdoor activities during the coolest parts of the day.
