An 18-year-old was arrested Tuesday after allegedly shooting at three people with a BB gun in the parking lot of a Saskatoon school and injuring one of the people.
Police said officers were called to a school on Primrose Drive early Tuesday afternoon after a report of a man in possession of a firearm, which turned out to be a replica BB gun.
“He was reported to have fired the gun at three other males, striking one of them,” Saskatoon police said in a statement. “The male received a minor physical injury.”
Police said the 18-year-old suspect fled the scene, but was arrested shortly after with help from officers with the Corman Park Police Service.
The statement from police did not say if the alleged shooter or the victims were students at the school. No other injuries were reported, and police said they will provide more details after criminal charges are laid.
The incident comes just a day after Saskatoon’s Walter Murray Collegiate was locked down following a report that gunshots had been fired near the school on Preston Avenue South.
In that case, the school was briefly locked down and a search by police found nothing related to the reported gunshots.
