Tickets to see Bryan Adams during his two stops in Saskatchewan go on sale Friday, and the Financial and Consumer Affairs Authority (FCAA) is urging fans to use caution when buying their tickets.
Adams is set to bring his “So Happy it Hurts” North American tour to the Brandt Centre in Regina on Nov. 4, and the SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon on Nov. 5.
Any purchases within 48 hours of tickets going on sale should be made through a primary seller like the concert venue or Ticketmaster, FCAA consumer protection executive director Denny Huyghebaert said in a statement.
After 48 hours, tickets can be resold by other sellers, but the FCAA warned that resellers often inflate prices well beyond what the primary sellers charge.
The sale of fake tickets is a common scam online, but the FCAA offered some advice to help ensure your tickets are genuine.
A ticket offered for sale without a specific seat number is a common sign of fakes, the FCAA said. Buyers were also warned to avoid any tickets listing prices in U.S. dollars for a show in Canada, or any tickets offered by a reseller within 48 hours of the initial sale.
Buying with a credit card means better protection from scams, the FCAA noted, as it’s often easier to get a refund for a credit card purchase than with debit or cash.
Anyone who experiences problems with a recently purchased ticket can make a formal complaint to the FCAA at 1-877-880-5550 or consumerprotection@gov.sk.ca.
