Saskatoon police make arrest after standoff near Blairmore shopping centre

A man is facing charges after a standoff with Saskatoon police on Sunday night.
Shortly after 8 p.m., police received several reports about someone with a gun in the area of 22nd Street and Betts Avenue.
Officers located a man who was brandishing a firearm in a manner that was threatening to himself.
Traffic restrictions were put in place. After about an hour of trying to de-escalate the situation, police said in a news release, “less lethal options were used” to take the suspect into custody.
Police said a handgun and bear mace were found on the man.
The 42-year-old is facing a number of weapons-related charges.
