The Saskatoon Police Service confirmed Monday that one of its officers fired their gun at a suspect Saturday.
The incident happened just after 4 p.m., when members of the Guns and Gangs Unit saw a man wanted on warrants get into a cab in the 3200 block of 33rd Street.
After officers stopped the cab, the suspect got out of the backseat and pointed a gun in the direction of police officers. That prompted one of the officers to fire their gun.
Police didn’t say how many shots were fired.
The suspect ran into the mall in the 300 block of Confederation Drive, leading to a police operation in the neighbourhood.
Police haven’t found the suspect, but they don’t think there’s any threat to the public.
The police service is investigating the shooting as per its policy.
