The Saskatchewan Roughriders added another Onyeka to the roster on Monday.
The CFL team announced the signings of national defensive back Kosi Onyeka and American defensive lineman David Kenney.
Onyeka is a cousin of current Roughriders defensive back Godfrey Onyeka. Another cousin, linebacker Nakas Onyeka, left the Roughriders in free agency this off-season to sign with the Edmonton Elks.
Kosi Onyeka played 25 games over three seasons with the University of Guelph Gryphons, registering 64 defensive tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, one interception and three pass breakups. The 6-foot-0, 195-pounder from Brampton, Ont., also rushed the ball once for 12 yards and returned two punts.
Kenney, a 6-foot-2, 250-pound product of Indianapolis, played college football at Indiana (2013-14) and at Indiana State (2015). He signed as an undrafted free agent with the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2019.
He played four pre-season games and made two tackles in 2019 before joining the Winnipeg Blue Bombers later that year.
