Several staff members — including directors and managers — at a Saskatoon shelter were abruptly fired Tuesday.
Sources have told 650 CKOM at least one person was escorted off The Lighthouse’s downtown property by security guards.
Some staff members working from home were also served termination papers at their homes.

The firings came amid several tweets shared by The Lighthouse YXE account on Twitter. Those tweets were deleted shortly after but then shared again on the account around 3 p.m. Tuesday.
One tweet disclosed that all directors and all managers (with the possible exception of one) had been fired.

650 CKOM has reached out to The Lighthouse about the firings and has not yet received a response.
Recently, 650 CKOM reported The Lighthouse had received dozens of fines in relation to Fire Safety Act violations, but it’s unknown if those played any role in the staffing moves made Tuesday.
According to the City of Saskatoon, there were 42 violations for issues like failing to maintain life safety systems and building systems — including fire alarms and sprinklers.
There were also issues with some pathways and evacuation routes out of the building being blocked, a lack of records and failure to maintain fire separations.
Those issues date back to April of last year.
The management of The Lighthouse building, located at 304 Second Ave. S, has reportedly been taken over by the board of directors.
