First impressions are very important for Saskatchewan Roughriders fans. Just ask Jason Maas.
One year of uninspired offence means he is dirt and should be sent packing. Sure, the offence was conservative and wasn’t lighting up the scoreboard or the stat sheet compared to what the offence was in 2019 with Stephen McAdoo — who, might I add, was also not a fan favourite.
I know it’s unlike me to preach much patience when it comes to these types of things, but I’d give Maas a break on the number of things that went south on him — like players who opted out or were injured and a quarterback who never found his rhythm. And yes, that too could be on his positional coach and co-ordinator, Jason Maas.
All Maas could do was Zoom meetings to install a new system while four of the top five offences in the league last season all were the same system with the same quarterback from 2019.
Hmmm … maybe consistency is best.
I won’t guarantee a better 2022 offensive season, but having a third offensive co-ordinator in the third year with Cody Fajardo seems like a terrible idea.
