The Ottawa Redblacks are kicking off the new year with a new way to engage a fan base in the CFL.
Ottawa is trying its hand at producing a behind-the-scenes look at the organization. The team says every month, it’ll drop a new episode, with the first coming out this week.
The teases so far are intriguing, even video of the interview process with new general manager Shawn Burke.
It’s inspired by the success of the F1 Netflix series Drive to Survive that gave birth to a whole new fan base for the open-wheeled racing circuit.
Now, the Redblacks do have some issues as there is no agreement with a streaming service so people will have to seek it out, which will limit the overall exposure to a new group of people. But let’s not get too critical; at last they’re trying.
But with the launch of this new show, hopefully it inspires other teams to try some new ways to connect and engage with the fans. Giving fans more access is never a bad thing.
