The weekend of football was maybe the best weekend of football we’ve ever seen.
There were four games and all of them ended with a final-play walkoff, three field goals and of course the overtime touchdown by Travis Kelce in the epic game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills.
But the Bills and Chiefs also showed us that this weekend was also the passing of the baton. With Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers out of the playoffs, we saw the next two greatest quarterbacks of a new generation with Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes.
The debate is already looking at Allen and Mahomes being the next Brady versus Manning in the AFC. It has to be. They’re the best young quarterbacks in the game and Joe Burrow might be the new Ben Roethlisberger in the mix.
Yes, the golden age of quarterbacks over the last 20 years in the NFL is going to give us a new generation of thrilling and much more mobile quarterbacks.
The entertainment in the NFL is only getting better. Now the league just needs to change its ridiculous overtime rules so a coin doesn’t help win a game.
