Saskatoon has another multimillionaire.
According to a media release from Sask Lotteries, Dustin Kiefer was about to go into a morning meeting when he saw that someone from Saskatoon had won $50 million in the Jan. 7 Lotto Max draw.
Turns out it was Kiefer who, after checking his ticket, still sat through the meeting.
“I’m going to be honest, I didn’t hear anything that was said during the meeting — not one thing!” he said in the release.
He’s the latest big lottery winner from Saskatoon. In October, Matthew Poppel won $55 million on Lotto Max, and just over a month later, residents of the Bridge City won $2 million on the Western 6/49 and $1 million on the Lotto 6/49, respectively.
Kiefer doesn’t have plans yet for his winnings, other than one purchase.
“When I told my dad about it, I said, ‘I’m going to buy an espresso maker,’ ” he said. “It just popped to mind.
“Eventually we would like to do some travelling. We were supposed to go to Italy a couple years ago, but then COVID hit … It’ll be nice to get there one day.”
Kiefer bought his winning ticket at the Saskatoon Co-op Gas Bar located at 922 51st St. E.
