Rochelle Dubois is still waiting for justice after the tragic loss of her nine-year-old daughter Baeleigh Maurice.
Maurice was struck by a vehicle while using a crosswalk on the 600 block of 33rd Street West in September.
Dubois’ frustration continues to grow, as it has been 126 days without any charges being laid. The investigation remains ongoing, according to the Saskatoon Police Service.
A rally was held in front of Saskatoon police headquarters Thursday afternoon to raise awareness about the ongoing investigation.
Roughly 50 people of all ages showed up with signs and clothes that had “Justice for Baeleigh” written on them.
Dubois explained just how difficult it has been to deal with the process, and the lack of communication she has had with the SPS.
“I’ve just been feeling very frustrated (about) how I’ve just been dismissed by the staff at the police station this entire time,” Dubois told Gormley on Wednesday.
Dubois also wrote a letter to Saskatoon Police Chief Troy Cooper expressing her frustration and the lack of action.
“I am demanding, you, as the Chief of Police to take active measures immediately to investigate why there has been no action taken into why the driver of the vehicle has not yet been charged,” Dubois said in the letter.
Out of frustration, Dubois made the choice to share the video of her daughter’s incident on social media.
The graphic video has received hundreds of reactions since being posted earlier this week.
Dubois stated she felt it would be the only way to bring the case the rightful attention it deserved.
“It’s just constantly feeling like, I really thought nobody cared,” Dubois said in the letter.
“As a mother whose baby was taken so tragically, I have endured extreme anxiety, stress, sleepless nights, and mental anguish knowing that the Saskatoon City Police has not made the investigation into the tragic death of my baby a priority.”
